Carl Noonan is a contemporary jewellery artist and qualified Visual Arts teacher. He designs unique jewellery objects and teaches others to do the same.
Carl is a practicing artist, designing and selling his own conceptual jewellery objects. He is a two-time finalist in the National Contemporary Jewellery Award for his work Symbiosis (Dodecahedron Pendant) and Flesh and Bone ring collection. He is currently represented by Courtesy of the Artist (Strand Arcade, Sydney), e.g.etal (Flinders Lane, Melbourne), Bilk Gallery (Canberra) and Sturt Australian Contemporary Craft and Design gallery (Mittagong).
After graduating from Sydney College of the Arts (Sydney University) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts/ Object Art and Design (Jewellery), Carl completed a Masters of Teaching (Secondary Education/ Visual Art) and went on to pursue as career in arts education, teaching at NSW’s only visual arts specialist high school. In addition to his classroom experience, Carl has been a guest workshop presenter with the Powerhouse Museum, a speaker at the Visual Arts and Design Educators Association (VADEA) conference and has recently developed a professional development program with Art Express.
Carl’s experience as both conceptual jewellery designer and Visual Arts Teacher positions him with the unique ability to draw extraordinary jewellery pieces from his students. He has the capacity to facilitate a positive and fun working environment while connecting students to trade jewellery techniques and artist’s process. The results surprise and delight workshop participants.
